Wed, 17th Sep 2025

ELMO Software has named Mei Ching Koon as its new Chief Marketing Officer as the HR technology company continues to grow its presence in Australia and New Zealand.

Mei Ching Koon joins ELMO with over 25 years of experience in marketing and revenue leadership roles within rapidly expanding technology businesses. Before her appointment at ELMO, she served as Chief Marketing Officer at digital experience platform Squiz, guiding global go-to-market strategies and focusing on driving growth throughout the customer lifecycle.

In her previous role at SiteMinder, Mei held the position of Senior Director, Product & Customer Marketing, and was a member of the senior leadership group responsible for preparing the company for its initial public offering. Mei has also led greenfield roles in various software-as-a-service and enterprise technology firms, where her efforts have focused on building scalable commercial and marketing infrastructures.

New marketing strategy

As Chief Marketing Officer at ELMO, Mei is expected to work closely with the executive and marketing teams to develop strategies that align with the company's goals and its mission to enhance the potential of HR departments. She will collaborate across the business to ensure that marketing activities support the broader priorities of the organisation.

"It's a privilege to join another home-grown Australian SaaS success story. I'm energised by the opportunity to serve the HR community with ELMO. As the rise of AI profoundly impacts talent, career pathways and workforce transformation, we are at a pivotal point in time where HR leaders stand firmly at the centre of these shifts.
"ELMO is uniquely positioned to help customers shift from responsive management to proactive intelligence and automation. I'm excited to join a company that challenges the status quo, obsesses over its customers, and has the vision and courage to shape the future of work."

Mei's appointment is part of a broader organisational change at ELMO. The company has also recently promoted Ramesh Thiagalingam to the newly created role of Vice President: Machine Learning Operations and Platform Engineering. His team is tasked with building an interconnected AI ecosystem that supports functions across the organisation.

According to ELMO, the creation of this role demonstrates its commitment to integrating artificial intelligence within its platform and assisting both employees and customers as they adapt to new workplace technologies.

Leadership comments

ELMO Chief Executive Officer Joseph Lyons commented on the appointment and the impact it is expected to have on the company.

"Mei has outstanding experience transforming Marketing and GTM functions, building teams that deliver measurable impact. She is a problem solver with a strong strategic mindset and will be a valuable partner to our leadership and marketing teams. Mei brings the fresh perspective, energy and drive we need to continue supporting the 2,500 ANZ-based organisations that rely on ELMO today, while positioning us strongly for the future."

ELMO Software was founded in 2002 and now delivers people management solutions to organisations in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The group includes ELMO Software, Breathe HR and RotaGeek, and provides a modular HR platform supported by Australia-based data hosting and ISO-certified security.

The appointment of Mei Ching Koon and the recent senior leadership changes follow ELMO's strategy to enhance its capabilities and strengthen its offering for more than 2,500 organisations in Australia and New Zealand that currently use its services.
