Spaceship adopts PayTo with Zepto for faster, safer investing

Tue, 23rd Sep 2025

Spaceship has announced a partnership with Zepto to introduce PayTo payments for its customers, enabling real-time funds transfers and enhanced visibility and control over payments.

The digital investment platform has selected Zepto to facilitate PayTo, a new account-to-account payment method developed on Australia's New Payments Platform (NPP). This partnership allows Spaceship customers to set up PayTo agreements within their banking app, supporting both recurring and one-off investment payments into their portfolios.

PayTo integration

The integration aims to give customers an alternative to traditional direct debit payments. With this launch, customers are able to initiate investment contributions instantly with immediate confirmation and manage active payment agreements directly through their banking apps.

PayTo also increases security and reduces the likelihood of errors or failed payments, which can contribute to operational efficiency for Spaceship.

Katrina Sly, Chief Operating Officer at Spaceship, said the decision forms part of the company's ongoing effort to streamline the investing process for its users.

"Spaceship exists to help Australians invest in their future, and we're always looking for ways to make that experience smoother and smarter. By partnering with Zepto to enable PayTo, we're giving our customers more control, speed, and transparency over how they move money into their investments."

The new system is designed to support various customer needs, whether it be for regular contributions, known as dollar-cost averaging, or immediate, one-off payments to make the most of investment opportunities as they arise.

Customer benefits

With PayTo, customers receive instant settlement - funds are available in their Spaceship account as soon as the transfer is initiated. The feature also provides increased confidence and security, with management tools accessible within customers' own banking applications.

Spaceship believes these changes also reduce administrative overhead and minimise payment-related issues, ensuring that contributions reach investment portfolios efficiently.

Sly described the integration as an upgrade over existing payment processes, highlighting that both discipline and flexibility are now possible for users looking to manage their investing with more precision.

Zepto's involvement

Suzie Slingsby, Zepto's Strategic Head of Growth, outlined Zepto's experience and the wider shifts underway in the payments sector.

"We're proud to be supporting Spaceship on its PayTo journey. The payments landscape is shifting fast; customers now demand speed, security, and convenience. As Zepto surpasses 1.2 million settled PayTo transactions, we're excited to be partnering with forward-thinking leaders like Spaceship who are committed to innovating the payments experience for customers."

Zepto has devised its account-to-account payment solution to serve the needs of digital businesses and their customers, focusing on real-time capabilities and greater payment management. Slingsby emphasised that, as customer expectations rise, solutions such as PayTo help address demands for transparency and control over financial transactions.

Rollout plans

Spaceship customers will have access to PayTo over the coming weeks, with the new feature being introduced progressively across the platform's suite of investment products.

Spaceship currently has over 200,000 financial members and over AUD $1.5 billion in funds under management. The firm, which joined eToro in 2024, states the partnership with Zepto aligns with its goal of making investing accessible and straightforward for its customers.
